Guidelines for Author Contributions to the Literacy Innovations e-Newsletter

1. Title: Please include the title that you would like to use for your article. We encourage a "catchy" title.

2. By-line: Please include a by-line (author's name, position, and affiliation). If you wish, you may include very brief information about yourself and any other authors in an endnote. Should you wish to be contacted by our readers, please include your contact information in a endnote.

3. Disclaimers/acknowledgements: Include any disclaimers or acknowledgements in an endnote. (e. g., The views in this article are those of the author and do not represent those of ....)

4. Introductory paragraph: We propose that an article be started with a short paragraph that introduces the topic and summarizes the article.

5. Subtitles: Use subtitles generously.

6. References and links: We encourage the use of references and links (URLs) for important ideas. If you include links, please check that they work appropriately (i. e., the addresses are correct and up-to-date). Numbered comments are requested in endnotes.

7. Length: Articles should be between 2500 - 3000 words and in WORD 97/98 format.

8. Language: Please set the language to English (United States).

9. Pictures/graphics: Pictures and graphics in GIF or JPEG format are invited as long as the file size is not prohibitively large (e. g., not more than 50 - 100 K). Please send any pictures/graphics separately as clearly identified attachments in an email.

10. Editing: Submitted articles may be revised by our editors to fit the requirements and style of the newsletter. (Only when very significant editorial changes are required, do we go back to the author to seek approval for those changes.)

11. Copyright: ILI will hold the copyright to the submitted article in accordance with the copyright policy established for ILI. Authors submitting articles to ILI guarantee that they are entitled to grant permission for publication, and that their materials do not infringe upon or violate the intellectual property rights of others.
