Biography

Chand Asghar is a rural sociologist from Agriculture University, Punjab, Pakistan. At the moment she is working with the Prime Minister's Literacy Commission, Islamabad. During the last two years, she has actively been involved in the Non-Formal Basic Education (NFBE) community schools' project. She is now responsible for the skill development and training of NFBE teachers as Manager Rural Women Skills.

After completing her Masters in 1989, she became extensively engaged in the field of base-line socio-economic research, community organization and development, planning of short-training courses in agricultural education, organization and management of education and literacy training programs and workshops, compiling and drafting of research papers, reports, articles, questionnaires and checklists, etc. She has gained a good deal of professional experience while working with various international organizations such as CIMMYT, FAO, UNDP, UNIFEM, European Commission, World Bank and NGOs like AKRSP in different parts of the country. Her major share of experience is in the field of Women In Development (WID) focusing on rural womens' needs, contributions, potentials and issues for development.
