Biography Alzira Maria Rodrigues was born on the small island-nation of Sao Tome and Principe, off the West coast of Africa's Gulf of Guinea some 180 miles off the coast of Gabon. From a very early age she always loved school and the challenge to link biology, medicine, management, public health and education. She is an Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior Politecnico in Sao Tome and Principe, in charge of: the Pedagogic Methodologic and Scientific Department; planing and supervising non-formal and distant education; planning courses for teachers and information technology; working on curriculum development; preparing lesson plans and teaching natural science and geology. She has a Bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Oriente. She finished a Master's in the Science of Education in 1993, with a major in Curriculum and Instruction and a minor in Supervision and Curriculum at Emporia State University (ESU), Kansas, USA. From 1995-96 she taught Portuguese and Culture for Germany's speaker that will work in Africa's Losophone countries. She can speak Portugese, Spanish, English and some French.
