Meriden Public Schools Adult and Continuing Education: Resource Review: Internet and Microsoft Word*

Teacher: Marie Sullivan, Another School Program

Type of Resource: Internet and Microsoft Word (Word Art)

Description:

This past school year my students frequently used the internet for information gathering for research papers. For the most part, students were able to acquire substantial information for their topics. We also used Microsoft Word (Word Art) to create newspapers as a closure activity for The Crucible and To Kill a Mockingbird.

How the resource was used in class:

Relates to our studies concerning the diversity of the USA and the make-up of our nation.

The things I like most about the resource are as follows:

The source was easy to use and the students seemed more motivated to find a variety of sources.

Limitations and suggestions to overcome shortcomings:

One limitation which we found frustrating was the security which restricted some basic topics of interest for high school students.
