Stamford Adult Education: Resource Review: Dell Laptop Computers*

Teacher: Joe Brunner, Stamford Adult Education - GED Preparation

Type of Resource: Hardware

Description:

Laptop computer with CD availability.

How the resource was used in class:

Individualized instruction using ModuMath and the Steck-Vaughn GED program.

The things I like most about the resource are as follows:

Provides flexibility and individualized instruction within the classroom so that students can still keep one eye on class activities of interest.

After some initial fear by those not used to computers, joy. Those who are computer literate love it.

Limitations and suggestions to overcome shortcomings:

The equipment must be kept locked up and in school.

Suggest less expensive laptops that can be rented to take home over a weekend.

Comments:

The teacher will learn how to incorporate the laptop into class instruction via a SMARTBoard.
