PDK Training Module

PDK Community

(a) Create a Small Group within the online PDK Community section of PDK for this training group before beginning this session.

(b) Introduce the collaborative features of PDK, namely the PDK Community. Describe how an online bulletin board works (individual users post messages and respond to messages posted by others).

(c) Using the LCD projector and the demonstration computer, navigate to the PDK Community section of the website. Show the National bulletin board, then open the Small Groups section. Enter the board for the training group and post a Welcome message as a demonstration.

(d) Have each participant post an introductory message to the group.

(e) Review how the group board will be used for ongoing communication for this particular group. If participants are expected to make postings about their inquiry projects, review those expectations. It may also be helpful to describe your commitment to the dialogue on the board - whether you make a commitment to respond to postings or to check in with the group at regular intervals, make your role clear.
